Launch Fireflies #4: Pedro Costa / Ben Rivers

03 november 2016, Door:

‘What is your dream, when it comes to publishing Fireflies? What is your ideal?’
‘Uh, earn? To make a living out of it?’ Giovanni laughs.
‘If I might add to that,’ Annabel grabs the mic, ‘one of my dreams basically already came true. When we interviewed Claire Denis for our third issue, she was thusly smitten with the interview she let us know she kept reading it over and over again before going to sleep – "I don’t deserve this!" – and in thanks she sent us a postcard of her reading in bed, drinking a glass of wine, smoking. That was it, really.’

Hello Mr.: Honesty Lasts Longest

31 oktober 2016, Door:

Hello Mr. is simply put an honest portrayal of men who date men: not flawless but realistic, not seductive but endearing, and in no way superficial but utterly insightful. Since 2013 this magazine has proven itself to be more than flash, glitter and nudity – it’s a magazine, a community, of honest men that openly share their interests, loves, hopes and fears with the rest of the world. Though stylish, funny, and alluring in just the right places, Hello Mr. is a bi-annual magazine with a strong individuality and authenticity.

A New Type of Imprint #7: Nordic Nostalgia

28 september 2016, Door:

A New Type of Imprint is an Oslo-based creative lifestyle magazine that features Norwegian and Nordic culture published quarterly in English. Their aim, or at least their publisher Anti’s aim, is to connect this Nordic platform with the rest of the world, and to introduce the designers, artists and other creative minds featured in every issue to the rest of the world. Their seventh issue, which is available on - and offline now, features 'conversations on creativity and the spectacle of sports'. It's filled with narratives of fiction, reality, essays and visual features, and as a beautiful design and arts magazine tackling sports might seem like a gamble - but it certainly is not. Not if Nicklas Haslestad, the designer of the colorful visual morsels featured in issue seven, has anything to say about it.

Our evening with SOFA Magazine's Ricarda Messner

08 september 2016, Door:

Last week we had a nice evening with Sofa Magazine's co-editor and publisher Ricarda Messner. She is the founder and publisher of Flaneur, a magazine we admire for it's distinctive approach to magazine making. Last year we presented their fourth issue about Rome in the store. We then invited Toine Donk from Das Magazin to interview her and asked him again for this night to continue the conversation.

With 35 degrees it was a very hot night with a very interesting talk. Hear everything about the first issue of Sofa in the recording below.

Thanks to Nikos Doulos for the photo's and the recording.
