Our evening with Tristan Rodgers from MC1R Magazine
MC1R is the world's first magazine about redheads. Last week we had a great evening in the shop with editor-in-chief Tristan Rodgers who came all the way from Hamburg. We invited journalist and writer Rob Alderson from It's Nice That and We Transfer for the Q&A.
Interview with Ben Smith from Shelf Heroes
Independent movie magazines, there are not too many but there are a few good ones. Shelf Heroes is one of our favourites. Every issue is about one letter from the alphabet, issue E just came out and has articles on The Elephant Man, Eraserhead, Enter the Void and The Exorcist. The magazine is full of illustration and is clearly made by a movie addict.
We asked editor and creative director Ben Smith some questions about his fantastic magazine.
Our evening with Seb Emina from The Happy Reader
Last week Euan Monaghan from Structo interviewed editor-in-chief Seb Emina from The Happy Reader in the shop. The night before Seb won the award for Best Edior at the Stack Awards in London.
We had a nice full shop of magazine lovers including Fantastic Man founder and editor Gert Jonkers and MacGuffin's Ernst van der Hoeven who won the Stack Magazine of the Year Award.
Hello Mr.: Honesty Lasts Longest
Hello Mr. is simply put an honest portrayal of men who date men: not flawless but realistic, not seductive but endearing, and in no way superficial but utterly insightful. Since 2013 this magazine has proven itself to be more than flash, glitter and nudity – it’s a magazine, a community, of honest men that openly share their interests, loves, hopes and fears with the rest of the world. Though stylish, funny, and alluring in just the right places, Hello Mr. is a bi-annual magazine with a strong individuality and authenticity.
Our evening with SOFA Magazine's Ricarda Messner
Last week we had a nice evening with Sofa Magazine's co-editor and publisher Ricarda Messner. She is the founder and publisher of Flaneur, a magazine we admire for it's distinctive approach to magazine making. Last year we presented their fourth issue about Rome in the store. We then invited Toine Donk from Das Magazin to interview her and asked him again for this night to continue the conversation.
With 35 degrees it was a very hot night with a very interesting talk. Hear everything about the first issue of Sofa in the recording below.
Thanks to Nikos Doulos for the photo's and the recording.
