Our evening with Tristan Rodgers from MC1R Magazine
MC1R is the world's first magazine about redheads. Last week we had a great evening in the shop with editor-in-chief Tristan Rodgers who came all the way from Hamburg. We invited journalist and writer Rob Alderson from It's Nice That and We Transfer for the Q&A.
Our evening with Seb Emina from The Happy Reader
Last week Euan Monaghan from Structo interviewed editor-in-chief Seb Emina from The Happy Reader in the shop. The night before Seb won the award for Best Edior at the Stack Awards in London.

Launch Fireflies #4: Pedro Costa / Ben Rivers
‘What is your dream, when it comes to publishing Fireflies? What is your ideal?’
‘Uh, earn? To make a living out of it?’ Giovanni laughs.
‘If I might add to that,’ Annabel grabs the mic, ‘one of my dreams basically already came true. When we interviewed Claire Denis for our third issue, she was thusly smitten with the interview she let us know she kept reading it over and over again before going to sleep – "I don’t deserve this!" – and in thanks she sent us a postcard of her reading in bed, drinking a glass of wine, smoking. That was it, really.’
Our evening with SOFA Magazine's Ricarda Messner
Last week we had a nice evening with Sofa Magazine's co-editor and publisher Ricarda Messner. She is the founder and publisher of Flaneur, a magazine we admire for it's distinctive approach to magazine making. Last year we presented their fourth issue about Rome in the store. We then invited Toine Donk from Das Magazin to interview her and asked him again for this night to continue the conversation.
With 35 degrees it was a very hot night with a very interesting talk. Hear everything about the first issue of Sofa in the recording below.
Thanks to Nikos Doulos for the photo's and the recording.
Report: Launch Freeman's with John Freeman
Last Thursday Athenaeum Nieuwscentrum hosted an event with editor at large and magazine maker John Freeman.
The event focused on the theme of Freeman’s inaugural issue: Arrival. In today’s culture of migration, what does it mean to arrive? How do we negotiate different kinds of arrival? How does one compare moving across town to arriving in a new country all together? What role do writers and story-telling play in helping us make sense of these changes?
